April 29 - EQAO LIVE webinar series for parents and guardians
Join us for a free live webinar where EQAO staff will discuss math questions that Ontario students encounter when they participate in Ontario’s large-scale assessments. These assessments are taken by all Ontario students in Grades 3, 6 and 9. During the webinar, EQAO staff will show how these math questions help assess the skills students are learning in their math classes. Staff will also share valuable insights from the past three years of assessment results, which can help parents and guardians support their children’s math learning. April 30 - Parent Engagement Evening: Building Safe School Communities
In collaboration with Peel Regional Police, Âé¶¹´«Ã½ will be hosting a Parent Engagement Evening focused on creating safe school communities and supporting student wellness and safety at St. Aloysius Gonzaga CSS. This event will feature presentations by PRP and student safety advocates, along with information booths where parents and guardians can connect with representatives from local community partner organizations. Virgin Mary. During this time, Catholics try to keep the Mother of God more
present in their hearts, with a love shown in affectionate devotion to our Lady. ​
May 1 – Memorial of St. Joseph the Worker - International Workers’ Day
International workers’ Day is celebrated in many countries. This day can be
a day to recognize the value of human work, defend the dignity of working
people, encourage all to be responsible in their work, and celebrate the role

May 5-11 - Mental Health Week
Mental Health Week is May 5-11, 2025 . During this week, all Âé¶¹´«Ã½ students and schools are invited to participate in a series of wellness activities. The Well-Being Department will provide a selection of activities and resources that may be embedded in everyday lessons and school activities. One day of this week can be designated as a Wellness Day. Schools have the discretion to choose which day/period this will be. The focus of the day will be "Wellness for Success". This day will provide an opportunity to 'pause' and focus on catching up, reviewing, and resetting goals. At the local level, schools can choose from a variety of suggested activities on a Mental Health Week slide deck provided by the Well-Being staff.
May 4-9 - Catholic Education Week
Catholic Education Week 2025 will be held May 4-9, 2025. The
theme is Pilgrims of Hope. Catholic Education Week begins on a
Sunday to highlight the partnership that remains the foundation of Catholic
education between our Catholic schools and local Catholic parishes. For

website. The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board
(Âé¶¹´«Ã½) will engage the community with a social media campaign to mark this
year’s Catholic Education Week. Students, staff, parents, trustees, and alumni
are encouraged to share their personal reflections on Catholic education and
showcase how they are celebrating the week through photos, videos, quotes, and
artwork, using the hashtag #Âé¶¹´«Ã½_CEW. To see the celebration unfold across Âé¶¹´«Ã½

May 7 - B.E.S.T. Mentoring Session
The Black Excellence Success Team’s mission is to build capacity, promote relationships, and foster community engagement among Black employees and students in Dufferin-Peel. The B.E.S.T vision is to advance the well-being of Black students, foster community relationships, and provide mentorship opportunities for our members. The B.E.S.T committee will be hosting a mentorship session from 3:30-5:30 on May 7th at St. Marcellinus. This session will provide members the opportunity to engage in networking, break-out sessions, and activities that highlight different career categories. Light refreshments will be provided. The Mass will be celebrated by the Most Rev. Douglas
Crosby, Bishop of Hamilton. All members of the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ community—students,
families, staff, trustees, and the broader Catholic community—are invited to

May 7, 14 & 22 - School Mental Health Ontario Webinar: Supporting Your Child's Well-Being
School Mental Health Ontario is offering a free webinar series designed to help parents and caregivers navigate important topics related to substance use and addictive behaviors. Each 45-60-minute session will include a brief presentation followed by expert responses to pre-submitted questions from parents and caregivers. Webinar recordings will be available later on the By Your Side learning hub. Parents/caregivers can sign up for any of the sessions they'd like to attend. Each webinar will include time for experts to answer questions sent in advance, plus a Q&A opportunity to ask questions during the session. Sessions will be facilitated by Ontario parents and caregivers and will include simultaneous French translation. Parents and caregivers can register on Eventbrite and submit questions they want addressed during the session.

May 8 – Mississauga West Family of Schools hosts the 14th Annual Shining Stars Event
On Thursday May 8, 2025, the Mississauga West Family of Schools will host the 14th Annual Shining Stars Event. This beloved event takes place every year for our Mississauga West Diverse Learners. The event will take place at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Secondary School (2800 Erin Centre Blvd. Mississauga). Students will have the opportunity to participate in Special Olympic Events, all supported by staff, elementary student volunteers, and St. Aloysius Gonzaga leadership students. The Opening Ceremony and Liturgy will start at 10:15 am. Students will then begin participating in the Special Olympic Events. They will all rejoin for lunch at 11:45 am. The event will conclude with a parade and singing at 12:15 pm.

May 9 - Second Annual Catholic Education Week Quiz Bowl
Each participating school will send a team of five students from grade 6 and up who will work together to compete against other schools in a trivia competition. Questions will be selected randomly from all subject areas of the curriculum, as well as general knowledge and current events. $30 to participate. Unfortunately, we can only accommodate 12 teams. Associated Youth Services Peel and Âé¶¹´«Ã½ invite parents/guardians of youth age 12+ to virtual group sessions during the month of May.
