The Ontario Ministry of Education's Education and Career/Life Planning Program helps students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 develop the knowledge and skills to make informed choices about their education, careers, and lives. This program focuses on four areas of learning: Knowing Yourself, Exploring Opportunities, Making Decisions and Setting Goals, and Achieving Goals and Making Transitions. It aims to ensure all students can make informed choices and prepares them for their next steps, whether it be further education, training, or the workforce.
At the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board, we strive to support students in their career/life education planning through use of a web-based Education Planner in myBlueprint. This is where students can reflect on their educational journey as Catholic citizens and plan their post-secondary steps. The program is designed to help students achieve their personal goals and become competent, successful, and contributing members of society through the exploration of the following 4 inquiry questions:
- Who am I?
- What are my opportunities?
- Who do I want to become?
- What is my plan for achieving my goals?
All students from grades K-12, within Dufferin-Peel have access to their own personal electronic portfolio (e-portfolio) which contains activities for students to reflect on the 4 inquiry questions and set career/life planning goals.
